TheDance Friday Night Concerts
For "TheDance Concert" June 28th we're pleased to present to you Michael
"I'm Michael Di Rienzo, aka peace_and_love46,caz,age 46. I could be classified as somewhat of a reclusive late-bloomer. My 1st song; a collaborative work inspired by a poem written by Franka Gesualdi entitled "Broken Messiah" was created by chance; but even then; in 1981; one could sense in the voice that the magic was not so much in what was said, the magic was in how it was said; and even more importantly what "was not said" but "metaphorically suggested". If you ask who is the lyrical metaphor master, my answer is "Leonard Cohen". If you ask what do I try to do, I will say that "what Leonard Cohen does with words I try to do with sounds; with the voice." By the end of my 21st year, just months after writing my 1st song, a compilation of over 10 songs were written in the styles of Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, Graig Lake, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon; in other words the giants in the folk-pop-culture. In my 22nd year I made the acquaintance of a street singing songwriter _Michael Pietrocatelli; also from Montreal; who took me under his wing and helped to nurture my desire to work on my craft. The nurturing proved very fruitful as in less than 3 years over 80 songs were written; sometimes 2 songs in a day. To this day there are songs that I wrote in the early 80's that I (peace_and_love) perform. These songs are precious to me. They are very real. I always tried to make every note/word count. The emotions are just as real because I get into my character when I perform them. My whole approach; style is historically unique and in a way, it is good that I've remained a secret this long . Till this day the songs seem just as fresh. I am presently in pre-production, working on a 2-album collection of original Christian-Contemporary songs." For more info please write to Michael
